Welcome

Riding a bike is an activity available to all people. Age is not a barrier, and it is the easiest and least expensive access to a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle.

Every day we read about, or hear of politicians, health professionals, and all manner of experts, imploring us to eat right, and to get regular exercise.

We hear of child obesity, and that we as a nation are getting more obese. We hear that the cost to the nation runs into billions of dollars each year and that each year the cost is climbing at an alarming rate.

Everyone talks, but little is done to address the situation, especially the exercise problem.

We are asked to use our cars less, but no options are provided.

While all this is going on, bike shops are selling bikes at an ever increasing rate, but how many of them are being used as often and as productively as possible. Most of these bikes soon start to gather dust in the garage. WHY?

The answer is simple, not enough off road facilities and the roads are too dangerous.

What is needed is a network of shared pathways that provide a transport and recreational option for those who wish to walk, ride or skate from home to the shops, school, park, swimming pool or any facility in the area.

"This is the goal of Ride For Life"

What is needed is to motivate politicians and to show how many voters want to be able to walk, run and cycle safely. You can help with very little effort and at no cost to you.

Find out how to make your cycling more enjoyable, how to make your children's cycling safer, and what you can do about cycling problems. Have a great idea about improving cycling? Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
